The first Principles of the doctrine of Christ

The alphabets, numbers, names of objects, and names of people are among the basic things every child needs to know to be able to form meaningful sentences. Our walk with God faces a similar situation. The first principles of the doctrine of Christ are among the basic things every Christian ought to know in order to have an understanding of Christ and make meaningful sentences in Christ. These principles are laid down in Hebrews 6:1-2.

Not learning these basic things will cost you as a believer and it will hinder your growth. As Christians, we need to learn how to respond to the life of God within us and to the promptings of the Spirit inside us. Knowledge of this topic will help tremendously.

What are these principles?

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of the resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Hebrews 6:1‭-‬2 KJV

Importance of the doctrine of Christ

The book of Hebrews indicates the six foundational teachings that every Christian should know. Inaugurating a sound spiritual foundation is expedient because it sets the groundwork or keystone for the believer’s entire walk with the Lord Jesus.

Just as a good foundation is a prerequisite for a well-conditioned building, a proper spiritual grounding is essential for an effective, liberating, and victorious Christian life. Believers who fail to lay a proper foundation are doomed to spiritual immaturity. They have nothing to enable them to judge what is right or wrong, acceptable and unacceptable, scriptural and unscriptural. Believers who fail to mature fully in Christ can be shipwrecked as Paul mentioned in 1 Timothy 1:19.

We hope you are blessed as you read about each of the six principles. Enjoy the read!
